The award-winning project, Carolyn House, formerly a 1960’s office block has been completely transformed beyond recognition. It was acknowledged in the Irish 2019 Irish Building & Design Awards, having picked up the International Building Project of the Year Award and named as a finalist at the British Construction Industry Awards 2019 under several categories.

Woodland are proud to have worked on this extensive project. The package included the design, manufacture and fitting of all the kitchen cabinetry and doors, plus media units, bathroom vanity units and bedroom furniture across 183 studio apartments.

The developers fully understood the importance of chic, minimalistic design and FF&E selection was vital in attracting its target audience. Harnessing bold colours, the client selected a moody matt graphite for the kitchen base units and contrasting matt white tall wall doors. All doors were chamfered along the top edge with distinctive black multiplex edging. A softer oak finish was used for the shorter wall cabinet doors which beautifully complemented the monochrome palette of graphite and white. Woodland also supplied and installed all worktops, high-end electrical appliances, and all other fixtures in the kitchens.

In selected apartments, a room divider in the form of a media unit provided space for the TV as well as more scope for personalisation with storage space for books, photo frames and other home accessories. This allowed the owner to ‘zone’ living spaces, while still maintaining direct interaction of open plan living.

In the bathroom, a cleverly concealed wall-mounted oak vanity unit sits behind a large mirror and slides out for easy access. A 70mm thick oak shelf was mounted above the toilet and sink area.

Bedroom wardrobes and bedside drawers were also fitted, sizes varied according to the studio. Graphite robe doors conceal a shelf, illuminated LED lighting and a hanging rail for generous storage space.

The unique palette of colours and high-end finishes used in this project offers a sophisticated interior for the homeowner.
